A 4-day Uganda Gorilla Trekking adventure is an ideal way to experience the beauty of Uganda’s natural landscapes and the unforgettable opportunity to track endangered mountain gorillas. This itinerary typically focuses on Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, but can also include Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and a cultural or nature experience along the way.
4 Days Uganda trekking
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Early breakfast at your hotel before your tour guide picks you up from your hotel. The tour should set off by 7:00 am for a 8 – 9 hours drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest situated south west of the country. You will have en route stop overs first at the Equator for a small tour & souvenir shopping, another stop in Mbarara at the Igongo cultural village for a cultural tour, later have lunch and continue with your journey to Bwindi gorilla park reaching late evening in time for your dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Pygmies
Today is your gorilla trekking day. Wake up early for breakfast and with a packed lunch at your hotel, set off with your guide to the park head offices where you will attend a briefing session from a head guide. Trekking for gorillas in Bwindi requires visitors to be physically fit as it involves hiking for long hours. Time taken to finally meet your group may last from 1 – 8 hours depending on the movement of your group. Once you meet the gorillas, only one hour is allowed during which you get to observe, take pictures, and study how they interact with one another.
Later return back to your lodge for relaxing and later head out for a cultural visit to the Batwa pygmies’ community. The Batwa were the original forest inhabitants before they were forced away from the forest to conserve home for the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park – Afternoon Boat Ride
Set off early after your breakfast for Lake Mburo national park. Check into your hotel on arrival and later head out for a community walk to the Salt Lick wooden platform where you will see wildlife lick salty soil. Return to your hotel for lunch and in the afternoon embark on an after lunch for afternoon boat trip on Lake Mburo its self in search for water game such as Hippos, crocodiles, birds and statunga antelopes inhabiting in papyruses surrounding the Lake.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Departure
Have breakfast at your hotel and set off for an early game drive in search for wildlife as they return to their hide-outs. Expect to see zebras, Impala, oribs, bafalo, sitatunga antelope and more. Return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon hit the road back to Kampala for departure or drop off at the airport to catch your departure flight.
